Technical Training Solutions provide top-class practical electrical, mechanical and instrumentation skills training. We are currently expanding and are looking for gifted individuals to join us in the position below.

TECHNICAL INSTRUCTOR (Electrically biased)

The Role: Our Technical Instructors design and deliver short training courses to small groups of engineers at our base in Rochester, throughout the UK and overseas. This involves ordering parts, briefing and dealing with sub-contractors, building training rigs, researching technical issues, writing course notes and delivering the actual training courses. Technical Training Solutions is a small, expanding company and as such all of our employees contribute to the general activities associated with running a small business. Technical Training is an Employee Owned Trust (an EOT), where the employees can be share holders and enjoy the benefit of share dividends and tax-free bonus payments.

The Person: Electrical engineering knowledge, relevant qualifications, experience and an ability to communicate are the technical instructor’s most important assets. Previous experience of training is not required as help and support will be provided, although an aptitude to engagingly present technical subjects to an audience is crucial. The ability to recognise when improvements can be made and the motivation and determination to make changes happen, whilst communicating effectively with the rest of the team is essential.

Transport: In the main, instructors use their own transport, which must be fit for purpose. Company vans are also available. A valid driving licence is required.

Hours: Mainly office hours but a flexible approach is required as the role often includes evening and weekend work. Time off in lieu is allocated when instructors are required to travel to distant work locations on Sundays or at other times outside normal working hours.

Remuneration: Salary is currently £50k with 25 days holiday.

Expenses: Instructors are reimbursed for hotel accommodation and meals when working away. Mileage is paid for at the Inland Revenue guidelines which are currently 45p/mile.
