THERMAL IMAGING TRAINING COURSE

COURSE 550: 4 DAYS: Max 8 Candidates

Thermal imaging cameras aren’t just point and test - they are sophisticated pieces of equipment. This course is therefore focused on the correct usage of imaging equipment and interpretation of the results so that an accurate measurement of the temperature of objects is achieved. This then allows potential faults to be detected before the issues become critical. We also ensure the candidates know how to do this work safely in real industrial environments.

PARTICIPANTS

The candidates should have an interest in preventive maintenance and have a good understanding of electrical and mechanical systems.

COURSE PRESENTATION

This is an instructor led course with the emphasis on ‘hands-on’ training, backed up with the necessary theory. This combination of knowledge and skills allows a proper understanding of the subject to be gained and the confidence to perform testing and make reports in line with BS ISO 18436-7. A short investigation into the history of thermal imaging also helps to understand why certain practices have been adopted. Comprehensive course notes are provided.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

On completion of the course, participants will be able to

understand the principles of thermography
state the safe working practices that would be required in industrial scenarios
set up thermal imaging camera equipment
describe the visible and non-visible spectrum and wavelengths
state how emissivity values affect the results
demonstrate an ability to take ‘clear’ images
demonstrate an ability to make accurate measurements
apply, analyse and process images on reports
demonstrate an ability to find faults and describe how they should be rectified.

Successful completion of the course leads to the award of the Technical Training Solutions Certificate of Competence 550: Thermal Imaging.
